De-Escalation of Challenging Student Behavior
Presented by Steven Winchell, Spero Family Services
This training covers de-escalation techniques when working with children who have experienced trauma. These children can exhibit challenging behavior or traumatic stress responses that can be difficult to anticipate and respond to. The primary goal of this training is to provide strategies to help children build the skills they need to reduce challenging behavior through relationship building and other strategies.

Current Trends in Adolescent Drug Abuse

This two-hour live webinar is intended to update professionals on the most recent trends in adolescent drug abuse and the physical symptoms produced by drug intoxication. Topical areas include an update on the changes to the Illinois Medical and Recreational Cannabis laws including the school mandate for reasonable accommodation on school property. The most recent designer synthetic drugs appearing in Illinois and their effects will also be discussed. We will also touch on changes in adolescent vaping behavior and the abuse of over-the-counter medications. The presenter will be Sergeant Bruce R. Talbot (retired) a Illinois State certified substance abuse instructor with 30 years of training experience.
This webinar is provided free of charge to all TAOEP and RSSP programs.
